In July 1862, our actual freedom officially began. At this time President Abraham Lincoln revealed to his cabinet his intentions to free all persons held as slaves within the rebellious states. The President released the “Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation” and formally signed it on September 22, 1862.

In July 2009, we will expand the physical freedom that was given to us by the Emancipation Proclamation into the realm of our finances.
